“Reckoning” is a prequel to the Night Huntress series, published in the anthology Unbound.

In this story, Bones is in New Orleans because he believes he his assistance is needed in solving a string of gruesome murders. He is under the impression that the Queen of New Orleans (a voodoo priestess) wants him to stop the killer, a ghoul named Delphine.

I really liked this story because it’s an opportunity to see Bones in action without being bogged down by sex scenes. It’s a quick, fast-paced, read.

As long as you’re the type who can stomach ghouls eating the limbs off of live victims, you’d probably enjoy this story.
