Jen’s Review of “Last Chance”

I read this novella before reading the first book in the Delos series, Nowhere to Hide. The blurb says it is a prequel, but it is actually an omitted part of book one. Nowhere to Hide starts at around the same point that “Last Chance” starts, but the events in “Last Chance” are skipped over in Nowhere to Hide.

The reader gets to see what happens to Lia when the drug-lord sends men to kill her and her fellow teachers because they helped one of his women escape. In book one, this isn’t detailed, so it’s really important for readers to read “Last Chance” if they want to fully understand what prompts Delos to send Cav to be Lia’s bodyguard.

This novella was fast-paced, action-packed, and thrilling. I really wish it had been included in book one, because it would have made that book more exciting. But, on its own, it reads well. If I don’t think about its relationship to the first book in the series, I can judge “Last Chance” more favorably. I really enjoyed reading it. It’s a great story to help readers jump into Lia and Cal’s story.
