Jennifer’s Review of THE DARKEST TORMENT

Gena Showalter succeeded again at writing a thrilling paranormal romance, filled with action and excitement, both in and out of the bedroom. The Lords of the Underworld continues to be one my all-time favorite paranormal romance series. If you like tortured heroes, you should definitely read this series. THE DARKEST TORMENT was an excellent addition to the series. The book has the perfect blend of fighting, romance, mythology, and internal conflict!

In THE DARKEST TORMENT, we learn a lot about Baden. I really liked that all readers could jump into the series. Gena Showalter provided enough backstory (without slowing the pace) to make it easy for everyone to understand who the characters are and what has happened in previous books.

One of the things I liked most about THE DARKEST TORMENT was how Baden was dark and angry, yet didn’t want to be that way. He was like the other heroes in the Lords of the Underworld series–he wants to do the right thing even if it is difficult for him.

I don’t mention covers usually in my reviews, but I have to say that this one is so eye-catching. When I was in the breakroom at work reading the book, a sixty-something year old co-worker of mine even commented on it and the “nice-looking guy” on the cover! However, the cover may be appealing, but it doesn’t quite fit the description of Baden and the details about his wreaths. Otherwise, I loved the cover.

Overall, THE DARKEST TORMENT was an excellent read. I strongly recommend it. I look forward to reading more books in the Lords of the Underworld series.
