Leaving a traumatic police career behind, Clyde Fortune has returned to her seemingly quiet hometown of Crystal Haven, Michigan. In spite of the psychic powers of its residents, there’s no telling what trouble is brewing in this burg… The highlight of this year's fall festival in Crystal Haven is a bonfire with a witch’s cauldron resting over it. Clyde’s best friend, Diana, leads a ritual to divine the future, but it seems no one foresees that one of their own will drop dead—or that Diana will be a prime suspect. Clyde already has her hands full with her eccentric family, runaway nephew, and burgeoning secret romance with a hunky homicide detective. But after another coven member is attacked, Clyde suspects there’s a witch hunt afoot and focuses her psychic and sleuthing skills to clear her friend’s name and catch a killer.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WITCH FOR grabbed my attention in the very first paragraph. It’s a fun read with a solid mystery.
Dawn Eastman did a great job in this story of creating red herrings and casting suspicion on multiple characters. Every time I thought I had it figured out who the murderer was, the author would make me doubt myself by incriminating someone else.
Not only did the author set up the murder mystery well, she also created a set of questions that needed answered about the main character’s nephew who ran away from home. Although his secret wasn’t as big as I thought it would be, I appreciated how Dawn Eastman didn’t reveal it right away. Clyde accepted Seth without pushing him for the reasons for why he was there with her instead of at home with his parents.
In BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WITCH FOR, the focus is on a coven of Wiccans. One of their members is murdered. The main character, Clyde, wants to assist her best friend whose brother is accused of the crime.
I really enjoyed reading this book. My only complaint is that some questions were never answered. I never knew, for example, who it was that Seth was texting before he met Skye and Faith. It couldn’t have been them; so, who was it? Why was he being sneaky and evasive about it?
Despite that one complaint, I loved the book.
If you haven’t read any of the Dawn Eastman books in the Family Fortune Mystery series, I strongly recommend them. They are funny, clean, and fast-paced.
I give BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WITCH FOR five out of five stars!
